Homeopathic medicine is a medical system commonly referred to as homeopathy, was created in Germany more than 200 years ago. It is founded on two unorthodox theories:
The idea that an illness can be healed by a drug that causes similar symptoms in healthy persons is known as “like cures like.”
“Law of microdoses”: the idea that a drug’s effectiveness increases with decreasing dose. There are frequently no molecules of the original drug left in many homeopathic products.
Today’s users of homeopathy stand beside PAST AND PRESENT CULTURAL GIANTS! There are GOOD reasons why so many of the most accomplished and well-known individuals throughout the past 200 years have utilized and/or promoted homeopathic medicine.
Homeopathic medicine has been used or supported by 11 U.S. Presidents, 7 Popes, Charles Darwin, David Beckham, Tina Turner, and Mother Teresa, among others. Homeopathy Discover how many of history’s most illustrious figures and cultural icons valued homeopathy…

Top Northern Ireland Study: Homeopathy
According to research by the Northern Ireland Government, homeopathic medicine performed the best of all alternative and complementary therapies in terms of patient health benefits and savings on government healthcare costs.
Acupuncture, chiropractic, osteopathy, homeopathic medicine, reflexology, aromatherapy, and massage were the therapies used in the study. Patients who received homeopathic care improved the most (79%), then those who received acupuncture (77%) and those who received chiropractic or osteopathic care (56%).
Homeopathy’s acceptance by the British Royal Family
The British Royal Family has a reputation for being extremely traditional and representing the values of the traditional family and community. Still, they are also known to have a special appreciation and advocacy for some unconventional treatments that worked, whether conventional medicine accepted them or not. They had similar experiences with Mr. Logue’s speech therapy and the well-known, widely-used, but frequently misunderstood science and art of homeopathic medicine.
Neither King George VI nor any other member of the British royal family used or benefited from homeopathy first or last. First made public in 1835, Queen Adelaide (1792–1849), the wife of King William IV, had a great interest in this “new treatment.” The Marquess of Anglesey, who crossed the English Channel to travel to Paris for treatment by the father of homeopathic medicine, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, shared the queen’s interests with other British aristocracies (1755-1843).
The court physicians had been unable to heal Queen Adelaide’s terrible illness. The queen requested the assistance of Dr. Johann Ernst Stapf (1788–1860), one of Hahnemann’s oldest and most devoted associates, who treated her and made the queen the first of many British monarchy figures to support homeopathic medicine.
Since Queen Adelaide, numerous British kings and queens have publicly sought homeopathic medical care. Dr. Frederick Quin, the personal physician, and homeopath of Prince Leopold of the Belgians, who was the great-uncle of Queen Victoria’s adored husband, Prince Albert, treated Queen Victoria (1837–1901) during her lifetime. “Young Victoria,” a recent blockbuster film, detailed their romance.
The fundraising efforts to relocate and enlarge the London Homeopathic Hospital were led by Princess Mary, afterward known as Queen Mary (1865–1953), the wife of King George V. King George V (1865–1936) appreciated homeopathy because it allowed him to heal his seasickness, which he frequently suffered from as a result of his love of sailing.
Tabacum, a homeopathic dose of tobacco prescribed by King George V’s homeopath, Dr. Sir John Weir, is known to have been used to treat this ailment (1879-1971).
Homeopathic doses of this drug can assist in treating common seasickness symptoms because smoking tobacco is known to promote feelings of dizziness and nausea. In more recent times, a study indicated that Cocculus compositum (also known as Vertigoheel, a combination or formula of homeopathic remedies) was as effective as a conventional treatment for dizziness…and was safer. This study demonstrated a clinically significant decrease in the mean frequency, length, and intensity of vertigo (dizziness) bouts following homeopathic treatment.
Ironically, his son, who became King George VI (1895–1952), experienced tobacco in a very different way. On the other hand, his long-term cigarette addiction caused him to pass away too soon. Even so, King George VI believed in homeopathic medicine enough to give one of his top racehorses the name Hypericum in honor of a well-known remedy for nerve damage.
King George VI was an excellent user of homeopathic medicine, and in 1948 he gave the London Homeopathic Hospital a royal title as a sign of his deep respect for this type of therapy. For many years, it was known as the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital; however, in 2010, it changed its name to the Royal London Hospital for Integrative Medicine.
Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the wife of King George VI (1900–2002), had two daughters: Elizabeth and Margaret. To distinguish herself from her daughter, the current Queen Elizabeth II, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, adopted the moniker “Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mother” (1926- )
The homeopathic drug Arnica was especially beloved by the Queen Mother. I believe Arnica is the most wonderful medication, and all doctors, including those who are not trained in homeopathy, should utilize Arnica. She was aware that some individuals had doubts about homeopathic medicine. Still, she knew these doubts were typical of those unfamiliar with the practice or had never used it. She frequently used Arnica on her dogs whenever they got hurt, and she also urged her friends to do the same.
Since she took the queen in 1952, Queen Elizabeth II has supported the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital, which in 2005 had a $35 million renovation. When Queen Elizabeth II paid a visit to the hospital in 2000, she turned to face Sir John Weir’s photograph and remarked, “He did a lot of good for my father.” This hospital’s name was changed to Royal London Hospital for Integrative Medicine in 2010 to reflect the times.

Homeopathy’s early development in Britain in the middle of the 1800s was made possible in great part by royal patronage and British nobility. Dr. Frederick Quin, the first British homeopath to treat British aristocracy (1765–1824), was a son of the Duchess of Devonshire. In London, where he first started his full-time homeopathic practice in 1832, Quin treated mainly other members of his noble class.
Dr. Peter Fisher, who also serves as the medical director of the Royal London Hospital for Integrative Medicine, is now Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s homeopath.
The love of homeopathic medicine among other European monarchs
In the end, King George VI was not the only royal Sir John Weir treated with homeopathic medicine; he also treated King Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII, the Duke of Windsor, King George VI, Queen Elizabeth II, King Gustav V of Sweden (1858-1950), and King Haakon VII of Norway (1872-1957).
It is important to highlight that other aristocrats embraced and promoted homeopathic medicine in addition to British royalty. An astounding 77 homeopaths cared for monarchs and their families as their personal doctors in the middle of the 19th century. There is plenty of information available about these doctors and the numerous monarchs they treated.
Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie of France were well-known proponents of homeopathic medicine. Napoleon III awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Legion of Honor to Dr. A.J. Davet, the family’s homeopath, as well as to Dr. Alexandre Charge and Dr. J. Mabit for their respective contributions as the directors of hospitals in Bordeaux, where they consistently discovered that homeopathic treatment was effective.
Numerous kings, queens, and dukes from Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, and Prussia, as well as Czar Nicholas and Czar Alexander II of Russia, were well-known supporters of homeopathic medicine. Even though these kings had tremendous authority at the time, the opposition to homeopathic medicine from traditional doctors was so great that they could not overcome the economic might of the physicians and pharmacists of the day. Even the Russian czars, according to one correspondent, were unable to dismantle “the Chinese wall by which the medical hierarchy surrounds its realm.”
The fact that these monarchs had the freedom to choose any form of medical care, however, yet regularly went with homeopathic medicine makes it “the royal medicine.”
