In a previous article I wrote about the birth and baptism of Jesus and something of His ministry of preaching and teaching and training disciples. He accomplished so much in three brief years, before being murdered - crucified, and shedding His Blood to wash away our sin and sins. But Jesus was raised from the dead.

Even His first disciples were accused of being drunk when they were filled with the same Holy Spirit Who filled Jesus when He emerged from the rivers of the Jordan. But no-one has been able to stop this thing, although many have tried to destroy and eliminate the Church of Jesus Christ.

So, who is this Jesus, Who has made such an impact upon the world, as no-one else has ever done? The early disciples called Him, Lord - all except Judas. Judas never made that essential transition from Master to Lord. That change has to happen. What do you call Him? Your answer will reveal much about your spirituality.

There is a degree of mystery in all of this.

Try and explain a rose - if you over analyse the flower, its beauty will disappear. There is a degree of mystery about the personality of Jesus Christ.

Here is man who was so meek and lowly, yet with such authority. Evil spirits and demons were afraid of Him, yet children played with Jesus and sat on His knee to be blessed. He was so kind and compassionate to sinners, but spoke scorching words about sin. He would not break a bruised reed, but took a whip in The Temple when dealing with religious corruption and deceit.

Jesus was the servant of all - washing His men's feet - and yet strode into the Temple and taught with authority. He saved others, but he would not save Himself.

There is a mystery about His Power. He took a Cross and turned into a throne from which He offers forgiveness and salvation. In His Name great movements of reform have swept the earth. His Name is not so much written into history as ploughed into history. There is an anti-God movement abroad today, and it has to tremble at the Name of Jesus Christ.

He continues to baptise men and women in the Holy Spirit, and break the chains of evil habits and demonic forces, and sets all kinds of prisoners free. He energises ordinary folks who think they could never do anything for God. I have now been in the front line of the Church of Jesus Christ, and I know I could never have kept going had it not been for the power of God flooding my life at times and guiding and encouraging and reassuring. Yes, personal testimony is important.

There is also a mystery about His Presence. He said, "I am with you always."
No-one else has ever said that. The men on the Emmaus Road knew that to be true, and so did those in the Upper Room - and so did Paul - and so can people today.

When we read this book we call the Bible, we meet someone alive and well and powerful and tender and loving. This is not using language dishonestly or wrongly - nor is it being too romantic and using words with wishful thinking. These things happen. The language is accurate. One thing we are sure of - He was truly and fully MAN. Hold on to the humanity of Jesus. It is crucial for salvation.

One of the heresies in the church was called Docetism and these people did not deny that Jesus was GOD - that He was Divine - they denied that HE was a man - fully human. They denied His True Manhood. Notice how manhood is being attacked today. He knew weariness and tears and disappointment (in the garden).
"Behold the MAN" we read in John 19: 5. If He were not a man then GOD has not fully stooped to the depths - and invaded our world - from highest heaven to lowest earth. There is one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.

But, He has to be more than a mere man, and it is only from within the Christian experience that the divinity of who is jesus  Christ can be understood. To speak to someone about Jesus being God the Son - someone who has no interest in the life of discipleship and no serious intention of becoming a disciple - is wasted effort. We read that "In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily".

Consider the claim Jesus made for Himself. He not only claims to have found the answer to all men's need - He claims to be the answer. Come unto ME and I will give you rest. All these passages about losing your life for My sake - and, before Abraham was, I AM.

Consider His Sinlessness. That word is too negative to describe such moral perfection. John Chapter 1 speaks of a man in whom there is no guile- no deceit - no falsehood.
No-one ever spoke about Jesus doing anything wrong, and they searched with a microscope. They turned their fiercest searchlight on Him - finding not one flaw. He was tempted in all points as we are - yet without SIN.

Consider this too - Jesus Christ does for men what only God could do. Forgive. The Pharisees were aware of this, and challenged HIM when He healed the paralysed man.

Consider the Universality of Jesus. He has influenced every Century, and every nation and race. No other leader has done this. It is unique. This is God.

Consider this - that when you seriously and meaningfully consider Jesus, something happens inside you, and that is God at work. The Holy Spirit is always pointing to Jesus, and Jesus is always pointing to the Father.
